Dental Oncology Hospital Residency
The residency in Dental Oncology is a one-year program intended for a dentist interested in gaining further clinical and medical skills in managing patients with a cancer diagnosis, in particular those which impact the oral and maxillofacial complex.
The residency year will involve rotations within the dental oncology department, including general dentistry, maxillofacial prosthetics, oral pathology/medicine and oral and maxillofacial surgery. Residents will also be expected to perform bedside examinations for patients in the ICU who cannot be safely transferred for care within the department itself.
In addition, residents will have rotations in the departments of radiation and surgical oncology (head and neck cancer patients) and medical oncology (patients with hematologic malignancies and patients on anti-resorptive therapy).
